Tomorrow's Journey
In this story, the Grandmother Tree is the constant. She is the reminder of strength, resiliency, and the power of our inner nature. She is the unrelenting presence of stability. A white band stretches across the doorway, symbolizing the restrictions and bars the way out into the forest, into the unknown. But in Tomorrow's Journey, there is a realization that life is be lived and experienced despite impositions. Despite the season or weather. We must run towards our lives without fear, without hesitation, in order to fully grasp its meaning. In the first photograph of the diptych Tomorrow's Journey, I am seen running towards life. Towards the exit and escaping into freedom. The Grandmother Tree, my teacher over the last eighteen months, is beside me, abundant and full on last days of summer right on the cusp of fall. Moving towards the exit, I remove the band and drop it behind me as I step through the doorway and into the mystery.
